East Central Men’s Circle
The East Central Men’s Circle is a social and support group for gay, bisexual, transgender, and questioning men in East Central Minnesota. Since 2000, the Circle has provided a welcoming place to meet others, build friendships, and find community across the region.
Founding
The Men’s Circle was established in 2000 by Don Quaintance, Randy Olson, Gary Skarsten, and others who recognized the need for connection among LGBTQ+ people living in rural East Central Minnesota. What began as a small gathering grew into a regional network connecting people across several counties.
Pioneering Pride
In 2005, as the Men’s Circle approached its fifth anniversary, members decided to do something they had never done before: hold a public Pride celebration. That gathering in Pine City became the beginning of East Central Minnesota Pride.
Community Today
More than two decades later, the Men’s Circle continues to offer an important place for connection, friendship, and support. Its longevity reflects something that has been at the heart of the group from the beginning: making sure LGBTQ+ people living in rural communities know they are not alone.
